Christina & Ali's Engagement Shoot

Last week I traveled out to New Haven, Connecticut to shoot Christina & Ali's engagement session. They are the cutest couple! So sweet and funny and always laughing -- I can't wait for their wedding! It's not until November, so I'll have something to look forward to this fall.

We started the day out with a few shots right outside their front door which is in a totally beautiful location right on the water. They told me they were a little nervous about being in front of the camera, but I realized pretty quickly that that statement was complete craziness when I caught this shot in one of our first few frames!

Since I don't know New Haven at all, Christina had picked out a couple of spots to hit around town. The first one was a cool bridge in the middle of the woods, which was perfect for photos.....except that it truly was in THE MIDDLE of the woods! I think we spent about 20 minutes hiking through the forest to get there, which was fine with me, but poor Christina had to hike in heels! She was such a trooper, though, and our little adventure was definitely worth it!

A quick pit-stop along the hike.....

Bridge #2: this one was one of those old covered wooden bridges... I was lovin' the X's in the architecture:

Then we drove into town and stopped for ice cream cones -- I don't think they had any idea that that they were with the biggest ice cream eater on the planet! Ice cream makes me happy. Christina, too:

After our ice creams, we strolled down the street to do a few shots around Yale's gorgeous campus. Actually, we only went into a few nooks on the edge of one building, but we grabbed a ton of great shots there!

Last stop -- the beach! We pulled in just at that gorgeous time of day when the sun is getting all warm and glowy....the perfect time of day to lay down in the sand and get dirty!

I had this crazy idea to re-create the last scene in the movie Sixteen Candles. (You all know the one, right?....where he gives her the birthday cake!) Here's the 2007 interpretation. I think Ali & Christina put Sam & Jake to shame. :)

Christina looked so amazing sitting there, I kicked Ali out to do a few portraits of just her! Her eyes are gorgeous, no?

One last shot from our hike....I love this one!

Christina & Ali: What a great day! Thanks for showing me around town -- you guys are hilarious. :) I hope all of your planting/gardening work doesn't keep you too busy this summer! And thanks for that Fresca for the road. You were right -- it WAS great! haha!
