Smita & Tony's big day:: June 2, 2007

This weekend Jed and I headed north for Smita & Tony's wedding just outside of Boston.  I've been looking forward to this weekend for a while because I knew it would be a blast spending the day with Smita....since she and I have actually been friends for a LOOOOOOooong time! We met back in middle school when we were both in Mrs. Hurley's sixth grade class (ha!) and have been friends ever since! A couple of years ago she introduced us to her boyfriend Tony, and everyone could tell right away that they were a great couple. They just complement each other really well. :) So when Smita & Tony got engaged and asked me to shoot their big day, I was totally honored, and of course, I knew that they would throw an awesome party.

Well, they didn't let us down!  :)  We started the day off at the hotel where Smita was getting dressed with her mom and aunts and a huge crew of girlfriends....seriously, the place was packed! And amidst all of the chaos, she looked amazing!

Smita wore the sari her mom wore the day she married Smita's dad -- such a great special touch.

the shoes.... I couldn't decide which shot I liked better, so here are both of 'em!

Just before they left the hotel, Smita's whole family came into the room to hold a special prayer ceremony. It was one of the neatest things I've seen.

a couple of fun details.....check out the ring bearer's shoes! So cute.

Later I headed down to Tony's room for a few groom shots. He looked like a rock star in his pinstriped suit and skull socks.....excellent. :)

i love this one....

After lots of talk about the "rain plan", we never ended up needing it (thank goodness)!

Ammachi, Smita's sweet grandmother, traveled all the way from India for their big day!

After the ceremony we took advantage of all of the fun spots around the streets near the church for some cool shots. Tony & Smita were such great sports, they didn't even blink an eye when I asked them to take a seat right above a huge rat trap! Don't worry, it was empty....I'm not that crazy!

A little sign action ala my pal nate kaiser!

We even had time to stop for the ginormous banana split at Red Rock! YUM. Who says the bride & groom don't get to eat on their wedding day??!! :)

After the portraits we headed over to their reception at Smith Barn in Peabody. It's a great location for a wedding with lush grounds and a huge old barn....and Jed was super excited to discover that they also had an old fire house on the property. He sniffed it out right away and even scored a private tour!

Smita changed into this hot little number for the reception -- the dress was custom-made. She cooked up the design with the owner of a bridal shop out in California and it turned out perfect!

and I saved one of my favorites for last.... enjoy!

Smita & Tony -- you guys are amazing! It was such a fun, hilarious, kooky day and I so enjoyed hanging out with you both "behind the scenes". I couldn't be happier for you. :) Congratulations!!
