Rising Star: Regina O'Brien

This weekend I had the amazing opportunity to photograph an incredible singer/songwriter/guitar player, Regina O'Brien. If you haven't heard of her yet, don't worry -- you will. She's been busy playing lots of gigs around Ithaca and Elmira, NY, this summer, and if you're in the area, you should definitely check her out.

Her first album "Velvet Memory" has been out for a while and she's just about to start working on her second album, so we met up in the country to do some shots for marketing materials and her second cd.

I was pretty excited to do something a little bit different and Regina was looking for some shots that matched her quiet personality, and I think we brought home some really cool images. I had scouted out a couple of spots that I thought she'd like earlier in the week, so we spent the day cruising around the country, camera and guitar in hand, havin' a great time -- despite the hot weather!

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day....

So...earlier in the week I spotted a neighbor of ours taking his kids for a ride around their farm in this rusted old Ford pickup truck....Here's why it's great: they actually took a saw and chopped the whole roof of the truck off! This thing is so cool, and I knew right away that it'd be perfect for Regina's shoot. Lucky for us, my neighbors are very nice and happily offered up their ride for the photos!

Thanks Regina! I can't wait until your next album comes out...and I'll be sure to keep everyone posted when it does. Don't be surprised if you see her name in big lights one day (or in small print, on album covers, getting credit for her incredible songs!).
