Happy Birthday, Stacey!

Today is my seester Stacey's birthday!

Yahoo! Happy birthday from the south! :) We thought it would be fun to celebrate Stacey's big day along with her, so we got out our tools last night and whipped these up for her!

We were short a few cupcakes, so we had to improvise!

Unfortunately, as we all know, cupcakes don't mail well, and so we will have to eat them all for you. But we did want you to know that we are very much enjoying your birthday celebration! :)

Happy birthday! We love you! Hope your day is fabulous, and have fun with the girls tonight!!

Thanks, Mr. Mailman!

I would just like to send a big thanks out to my awesome mailman, who dropped by the digital studio today to ask for some business cards so that he could spread the word about TLP. You rock, Mr. Mailman!

Kudos to the USPS for hiring such cool, thoughtful people (and for all of the nice things you bring me in the mail).

It's a boy!

I am so happy and proud to tell you all that we have a new (and very adorable) addition to our family! After a long 10 months, my sister finally had her baby last week, and he is THE cutest little guy.  Meet my newest nephew, Hayden Matthew:

I was super lucky to be able to head out to Massachusetts for the last few weeks to help out a bit, and hang with Hayden's two big sisters, and my sister and brother-in-law.  Our other sister, Elisa, flew in from North Carolina for a few days as well, and it was a huge treat to have everyone all together.  In between chasing after kiddos, burping Hayden, watching princess movies, reading stories, re-learning how to roller skate (the good old brown boot and 4-wheels in a square kind), and racing around to school pickups and dropoffs, I took a ton of photos. Here are a few from his first day:

His fingernails were a little long when he was born, so my sister Stacey got to work and fixed that up right away with a little baby manicure.

Checking out this so-called "Mom" person....

This was a couple days later, and he already looks older to me here.

Napping on the cow boppy....

On Hayden's 1 week birthday, we took him apple picking. It's sort of a fall tradition in our family, and we wanted to get out and do it while we were all together.  We had a gorgeous day, and we all made ourselves sick on apples.  You just never know what each tree will taste like, so you really do have to try them all....

Hayden's little feet hanging out of the snuggly were too cute.

My sister Elisa and the siamese apple no one wanted to eat:

Stace & Hayden in the orchard (he's too little for cake, so we picked him a birthday-week apple).

And...I had to throw in one shot of me and my sisters (who are both the best moms in the world).  We all live in different states now so we don't get to see each other very often, and it was awesome spending time together.  I miss you guys already!  Love you!

While I was in Massachusetts I also shot a few other family portraits, so stay tuned for posts on those coming soon!

Jessica & Chris:: Maternity Shoot Part I

While I was in Harrisburg shooting Carla & Adam's wedding this weekend, I was super lucky to be able to also catch up with my wonderful friend, Jessica, and her new husband, Chris (you may remember them from an earlier post on their wedding at Penn State this spring). Turns out that in addition to the great tans, sombreros, and maracas they brought home from their honeymoon in Mexico (okay, I made up the sombrero and maraca part since I didn't actually grill them on what they brought home), they also brought home one more incredible souvenir from their amazing trip!

I am so happy for these two. Jessica is going to be the most wonderful, creative, and compassionate mom, and Chris will be the sweetest dad. While I was out visiting them in their new house, we took a few minutes to do their first maternity shoot -- so exciting! I like to do maternity photos in a series of 2-3 shoots, because that beautiful big belly you usually see in maternity portraits only really comes at the end, and I like capturing the baby's growth and the new parents' emotions throughout the entire pregnancy. Plus, by the time they get to the end, everyone's pretty comfortable in front of the camera. (For those interested in learning more about our maternity portraits, contact us here!)

They are both so gorgeous... I can't wait to see this beautiful baby!

Of course, we grabbed a few of Jess by herself, too...

Their cutie-pie cat Oliver supervised the shoot from a safe distance on his chair.

I just love this shot.

Thanks for a great weekend, guys! I could not be happier for you both and can't wait to shoot part 2 this fall....

Merideth's maternity snaps

A few days ago, I had the incredible opportunity to shoot the first in a series of maternity photos for a great couple -- Merideth & Jake. We've been talking about doing this for a while and I was so excited that she was finally showing enough to start snapping! I found out Mer has been a trooper throughout her pregnancy -- she made it through several months of morning, afternoon, AND evening sickness...but even so, all the old sayings are true. She's just glowing!

For this shoot, we really wanted casual, natural images, so we decided to use their beautiful house as the backdrop. I scouted out some nice natural light & Merideth took off her shoes and kicked back in front of the camera....

Thanks guys! Can't wait for the next shoot.... Hopefully we'll get soon-to-be-daddy Jake in a few of the snaps next time!
